IBM to standardize its Rational suite of testing, monitoring and quality assurance tools on the open-source Hyades framework. This move by IBM demonstrates its support to open-source technologies as the base of its developer tools.
Hyades started two years ago and is supported by IBM, SAP, Compuware and Intel. Hyades offers a standard framework for data models, data collection and execution, and user-interface components employed in a testing and monitoring environment. This step to encourage support Hyades as a standard for QA, testing and monitoring tools will benefit IBM Rational in integrating its tools with other vendor software and vice versa.
