There is no question that Indian IT industry has emerged as winner when it comes to outsourcing. But it's just not limited to low cost services and cheap labour. 'Quality' is the factor which decides everything. All major Indian IT companies are having many top MNCs in their client list. But retaining these customers is the toughest job and this can not be achieved only on the basis of low cost.

India has achieved this because of the quality services it provides. But to maintain these quality standards and the services India is providing, it should constantly improve on processes, standards and should look out for new benchmarks beyond CMM. The real challenge lies in maintaining the position at top and constantly growing. Currently, Indian companies are CMM, CMMi - Level 4-5 certified. But Indian companies have just met these standards. It has to reach at the place when the standards set by the Indians will be followed by others.

What do you think "India can achieve this position"?
